Royal Juice

Standard

Dear Gia

I have just completed my walk around Virginia Water Lake with weights around my ankles!!!

Why do I listen to G ? I must say it makes me feel like I’m as light as a feather, just wish the scales would agree. I know I have been picking a lot,but the pounds are just creeping up and up.

But I have earned my juice, which has the following ingredients today:

1 apple

1 orange

1 celery stick

1 carrot

piece of ginger

delicious and fit for any royal, at which point I would like to introduce you to M’s golden jubilee hat.

Hope you are having a good day

Monday juice

Standard

Dear Gia

I hope you had a good weekend. We had a lovely time in Cheltenham, we were all pretty and dressed up ready for the high tea. It was a great afternoon and most of all AA enjoyed herself and was truely surprised.

We spent the night and still managed to enjoy some time at home, in the garden during the afternoon and even had a braai, our first this summer.

Now it is back to Monday and the grind of chores. I desperately need to russell up some business and have procrastinated like there is no tomorrow. I have made my juice for the day and just added everything

1/2 beetroot

2 apples

1 celery stick

2 kale leaves

1 carrot

piece of ginger

I think that was about it, I’m hoping this will give me enough energy to see me through the day or maybe even week?

Hope you are having a good start to the week

Friday Juice

Standard

Dear Gia

oh yes another lovely day today.

It started with me going to my first yoga session. G has been going for a while now and has been urging me to go too. I have been going to Pilates classes for about 2 years now, but I still cannot touch my toes nor can I stand on my head. My core muscles have definitely improved and I do feel a difference in the strength of  my back, but it is the flexibility which I really would like to improve on.

So off I went this morning , the session was 1 hour 30 minutes. It reminded me a little of when I first started an aerobic class way back when, everybody was moving to the right and I was moving to the left.  As I noticed this, I moved to the right too and everybody started moving to the left. Boy, saluting the sun and pretending to be a dog is not as easy as it sounds, nor looks. Nevertheless it felt good and I even worked up a sweat. I will be going back as often as I can, but as we start our school holidays next week, it will have to wait till then.

As I had invited some friends for  lunch I decided to make another juice, today it was a juice to help with fatigue, I needed this one after my work out.

You need to juice

1 orange

1 apple

1/2 beetroot

1 celery stick

a hand full of kale

delicious and refreshing too. We had a lovely lunch and I enjoyed just looking at the sun

A and I are off to Cheltenham tomorrow morning to celebrate an old friends 80th birthday. We will be having a high tea in a lovely cheltenham Hotel and will dress up for the occasion too.

M and G are staying in Ascot to go and watch the PGA Golf championship in Wentworth, which is just down the road from us.

Here is to a great weeekend for all of us

3 carrots

1/2 applw

1/2 beetroot

1 stick celery

3 large ale leaves

It has a slight taste of mother earth, hopefully this will ground me and give me enough energy to get through the day

Summer Time

Standard

Dear Gia

The sun is shining and we will be having a gloriuos day today, apparently it will be 27 degrees!!!

What better to do than get the juicer out and have some healthy juice. I opted for  carrot, apple and celery, delicious. If you don’t  already have one, you should get yourself a juicer and if possible a masticating one.

I have the Matstone 6 in 1 juicer and love it to bits. I use it more in the summer, but as always have all intentions to use it all year round, as after I tasted my juice today and I know how fresh it is.

Hope you get to juice too

Diamond Jubilee Fly Past

Standard

Dear Gia

Oh I do love living in Ascot!

As you might know our Queen is celebrating her diamond jubilee this year. The whole country will and already is celebrating in all kinds of ways.

Today thousands of people gathered in Windsor (which is also the surname of the Queen, did you know that?) to watch some 2500 troops from the Royal Navy, the Army and the Royal Air Force parading through the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle and then through the town.

There was also a Royal fly past with 12 helicopters leading in formation.

Then we had a Lancaster and Spitfires, after which 20 Tucanos fly over us in a 60 formation! Following this we had VC10 and Tornados GR4s, this was so impressive. No just listen to this, we had, I don’t know how many, but there were many Hawks which flew in a formation reading E”R, it was so spectacular. To finish it all off the Red Arrows fly in diamond shape ending with red, white and blue smoke.

Now aren’t you impressed with my aeroplane knowledge ( I am 😉 )

I had baked a blueberry cake ( as close as I could get to red, white and blue), made some bacon, avocado and hummus rolls, made my hair look royal and off we went. Oh yes and a flask of tea, peppermint I’m afraid so not royal at all.

We put or rather G put the girls bikes in the car and we drove to Savill Garden, a beautiful garden close to us, really worth a visit should you ever be in the area.

I digress, as usual. We were concerned about all the thousands of people so thought it might be best to walk/cycle to the copper horse which is a statue in the Great Park right at the end of the long walk which leads to Windsor Castle.

So we parked our car at Savill Garden and walked/cycled for about 40 minutes until we arrived at our destination. We met up with some friends ate our by now well deserved food and had a cuppa tea and really a great time.

We managed to find a slightly shorter route back to the car and came across a group of dear just wondering in the park. It was so lovely.

Right now my legs are tired and I feel a real happy tired. We are going to friends tonight to watch the Bayern Munich – Chelsea football match, the champions league final. I don’t mind who wins this one, but I will be drinking beer!

I hope you are having a good weekend too

Dawn Chorus

Standard

15 May 2012

Dear Gia

good golly we have just had thunder and lightning!! I love it, we don’t get that many storms here in Ascot. I love it when the sky turns black, the wind starts to howl and then the rain drops to the bottom of the earth. The best thing about it all is that I’m sitting at my desk, nice and warm and dry. Within a few minutes it is all over, just as well as I need to go and collect the girls from school in 10 minutes.

I thought I would drop you a quick line today.

I have been waking up most mornings around 4.30am, guess why? The birds are singing in the trees. We call it the dawn chorus, at that time of the morning I would like to call it the dawn raucous!! Boy oh boy, I do love birds, but they can make a lot of noise. Thank goodness for double glazing, once the window is closed I can go back to sleep.

G solves the problem by putting the pillow on his head, I wonder how he manages to breathe?

One day I will have to record the birds and research which birds they are. At a second thought maybe not.

Hope you are having a good day

Lots of love
